About

These patterns have names. Most people who lived them never learned them.

Hidden Curriculum is a free public education project. Its purpose is to give language to the dynamics of dark psychology — in workplaces, relationships, and family systems — so that people who have lived these experiences can finally understand what happened to them.

All content is free. Always.

What We Do

NAMING WHAT HAPPENED

Dark psychology dynamics are effective precisely because they operate below the level of conscious recognition. A person who has been gaslit doesn't usually walk away thinking "I was gaslit" — they walk away thinking they're confused, oversensitive, or somehow at fault. The manipulation works through the target's inability to identify it as manipulation.

Hidden Curriculum exists to close that gap. Each episode isolates a specific dynamic — what it is, how it operates structurally, what makes it effective — and explains it in the context where it's most likely to appear. Not to pathologize, not to assign diagnoses, but to give viewers the conceptual tools to recognize what they're looking at.

The approach is precise, calm, and deliberately non-sensationalistic. The tone is that of someone who has studied these patterns carefully and is explaining them clearly to someone who has lived them without understanding them.

Every episode, every article, every resource on this site is free and will remain free. Hidden Curriculum is supported voluntarily by viewers on Patreon — not by advertising, not by sponsored content, not by selling data. Those who find value in the work can choose to support it. Those who don't, or can't, access exactly the same content.

Scope

THREE CONTEXTS

Workplace

Hierarchies, performance reviews, economic dependency. Workplace structures create leverage that dark psychology dynamics exploit systematically.

Relationship

Intimate partnerships are built on access — to information, to vulnerability, to the desire for connection. These are the dynamics that weaponize it.

Family

The family is where these patterns are often first learned — as a participant, a target, or a witness. The challenge: they're normalized before they can be questioned.

Our Approach

HOW WE WORK

01

The viewer is always the one learning to protect themselves

Hidden Curriculum is built on a single editorial commitment: the person watching is the one who has experienced these dynamics, not the one deploying them. Every episode is written from that position.

02

Precision over drama

These dynamics are disturbing enough when explained clearly. We don't amplify them for effect. The goal is understanding, not alarm — a viewer who finishes an episode should feel more oriented, not more frightened.

03

Structure before story

We explain the mechanism before the example. Understanding why a pattern works makes individual instances recognizable — rather than teaching viewers to recognize one story and miss every other version of it.

04

Not therapy, not diagnosis

Hidden Curriculum is education, not clinical practice. We name patterns, not people. We describe dynamics, not disorders. The distinction matters — and we maintain it carefully.

A Note

EDUCATION, NOT THERAPY — AND THAT IS INTENTIONAL

Hidden Curriculum is an educational resource. It is not a clinical tool, not a substitute for professional psychological support, and not a diagnostic framework. This is a deliberate choice, not a limitation.

We use established frameworks from psychology and behavioral science to describe patterns — not to diagnose people, not to pathologize relationships, not to replace professional care. If you are currently inside one of the dynamics we describe, the most important step is always working with a qualified professional. What you find here is the map. The journey is yours.
